Kate studied mechanical and electrical design. From drafting and CAD work for 12 years before finding the UNIX operating system which she studied at BU. She worked in that field for another 13 years.

Kate has a huge affinity for nature and animals. She is a close observer to the way things work and interaction between ourselves and the world. She has taught Nature Programs at camps, and wrote a nature program for the camp.

She spent 7 months planting trees in the forests of British Columbia, Canada , planting more than 40 thousand trees then working in the forest fire prevention program there for 3 months.

Kate worked for more than 15 years on her farm in central NH, where she first started raising bees, and turkeys, and chevriot sheep. Kate and her daughter Andrea enjoyed experiencing the animals and farm life right up until they left to come down to western Massachusetts to be near her parents. Kate even had bees at her parents’ property in Chelmsford for several years. Even now her mother Martha or daughter Andrea are pressed into work with Kate during bee season; sometimes you can find all three generations of Hamilton girls working the bees.

She has put together a PBA teaching course guide, and teaches various aspects of the course. She does numerous school programs, traveling to schools in and around the area to promote apiculture and educate all ages about the wondrous honeybee.

Kate does bee / hornet removal in the local area, tends her local colonies and does occasional pollination.

Kate sells honey along with pollen, wax and propolis, to various businesses, and makes an ultra-rich beeswax hand cream.

Along with Kate are daughter Andrea and mom Martha; together, all three generations of the Hamilton girls keep bees.
