Jetta is a 10 year old, 15h little Thoroughbred who arrived at Blue Star in February of 2011, with BSE Alum Dexter. Dexter had been adopted out to a family, but his adoptive mother lost her job and could no longer afford to care for Dexter or Jetta. When Dexter returned, Jetta came with him. She arrived underweight and very skittish, but she has since warmed up and charmed us all with her sweet little face and delicate conformation – sometimes she looks more like a deer running across the pasture than a horse! She is very graceful, and knows how to ride. We don’t know what kind of training she had in her past life, but she is eager to learn and loves to run. To date she doesn’t appear to have any major health problems, though she is prone to abscesses. In the herd she packs a punch for such a small girl, and even the Belgian block respects her. She may be small, but she doesn’t let the bigger horses tell her what to do. With people, however, she is very respectful and returns love and gentleness with obvious gratitude and mutual respect.
