We are still in shock, moving really slow, with big waves of pain and sorrow. The feelings are still too raw and I wasn't sure if I could manage TLC at all. But a committment is a committment. I don't have a lot to share to learn about horses but this morning the world lost a great natural horseman.

The Learning Curve #49 - A Leap of Faith

“A whip-trained horse is a broken horse. Our horses aren’t whip-trained. Our horses are educated.” ~ William "Doc" Carver"The truth was, riding the horse was the most fun you could have and we just loved it so. We didn't want to give it up. We spent another productive day with John Darman and his wife Nicole deconstructing our whole web site and how we present ourselves. One thing everyone can be sure of is that there are lots of changes (for the better) on the way that will reflect all of this hard work we are doing.

Early in the day we spent some hours with our dear friend John Darman. John is Nicole Birkholzer's husband and big time fan of the famous Jesse, whom they have adopted. But I hardly noticed. Most of my day I spent inside working obsessively..yes... obsessively. I was putting together lists of names and numbers for businesses and people that may become herd members if I ask nicely. I plan on fulfilling my goal of 1500 new herd members in as little time as possible.

It was also Carter's day to go to his new forever home. The plan for Carter to be adopted came about when our friend Anne felt she needed to get Daisy( her Belgain mare that she adopted from BSE) a companion. Anne originally wanted to adopt Sadie, Daisy's sister. Of course we have this incredible campaign going on to finally get the herd members that we need in order to be the most effective in our work by securing their needs. What occured to me after reading these submissions last night is how close we are all becoming in our shared love for the horse..big, small, healthy, sick, sad, happy, funny looking to stunning...they ALL matter to those of us in this work.
